Finally we went to check out Marche Adonis, a middle-Eastern superstore in Gatineau. My Egyptian coworker always mentioned going to a location in Montreal.  It was his favourite store, so I had to check it out.  It is not as wild and crazy as T&T in terms of ethnic stores. It is a large store but a lot of the stuff inside is not exotic because this chain is owned by Metro.  There are many counters selling the weird stuff, but you have to ask for them (cheese, meat, nuts, olives, baked meat pies, etc.)  I was a bit nervous to practise my French so I stuck with the stuff that was already packaged.

I got my coworkers some loukoum and candies from France.  I will definitely go back and try asking for stuff.  Their spinach pies were just fine.

These chips just tasted like BBQ

This was absolutely disgusting. It didn't taste like cheese. It didn't look like  the picture.  The "ground beef" was like a liquid.

Went to Luna Crepes & Cafe with ex-coworker friends.  This croissant with egg and cheese was OK but the new family running the place hid the spoons, napkins, straws, and ketchup, and my gelato was tasteless.

This popcorn was flavourless

This orange coke was gross.  Kind of like vanilla.  Couldn't taste the orange.

Nice guy Dave gave me these Malaysian snacks for babysitting his guinea pig. One of the cookies was BBQ pork flavour! 

June 2018 Ogdensburg oddities

Another visit to Seaway Diner and Smokehouse.  This is the meat smoker. If you sit near it you feel like you are smelling a camp fire.

Steve's ice cream: Southern Banana Pudding flavour.  This was delicious.

This Chips Ahoy! cereal tastes nothing like cookies. I am feeding it to the squirrels because it is disgusting.

Strawberry shortcake oreos: not so good!  and portable chocolate cheese cake that is nothing like cheesecake in texture or taste

Cheez It Duoz: I only liked the crackers.

Blue doritos - not so good

Finally tried a Popafella vegan popsicle.  This place is near work.  Great taste but $4 is too much!  This one was cucumber mint.

This watermelon drink is from Vietnam.  The non sparkling one was excellent.

We went to the Seaway Diner and Smokehouse BBQ restaurant.  It is close to Ogdensburg.  Pretty fun inside and good food too.  This is a cheeseburger with macaroni and cheese and bacon on it.

May 2018 Local items

This is a Cobb salad from a food truck called Urban Cowboy Eats.  It parks at the 19th Tee mini golf.  It was ok but left me hungry, and as you can see, the chef wasn't careful about the lettuce (brown worm holes on 3 pieces).

I made Rice Krispies squares with Fruity Pebbles.  I liked it and so did 1 coworker but most others did not like.

This time I used chocolate Lucky Charms cereal

We went to Pham Le this week.  Just fine! Two thumbs up.

Strawberry lemonade is just fine.  Ripple drink is gross, like drinking pea protein shake

Onion soup from The 3 Brewers. It was ok.

Nachos from The 3 Brewers. They were kind of dry and crumbly.

Sweet & Spicy lays.. the bag says it's a flavour fusion but it doesn't say of what.  Not so good.  Didn't taste anything like chicken wings

Canada Dry lemon ginger ale. It was ok.  I will bring the other 11 cans to work

April 2018 Ogdensburg Oddities

This Blue Bunny ice cream cup was pretty lame (flavourless with gross chunks of "fudge").  It gave me "issues".

These Tate's Bake Shop cookies were just fine.

Albanese gummy worms and Lay's Munchies cheese fix.  The worms tasted fresher than the usual ones we can buy here.

In search of NYC style pizza, we went to Cam's pizzeria, a new restaurant in Ogdensburg.  It has several locations in upstate NY.  The flavoured cokes were disappointing.  Somehow adding peach or raspberry to the coke made it taste not like coke at all.  The pizza was also not so good (not zesty or saucy enough).  The rainbow cookies were delicious (almondy).  The black & white cookie was stale.

Pizza rolls or logs from Cam's pizzeria.  They were OK.  Like egg roll wrappers with cheese, tomato sauce and pepperoni inside.  This is also popular in upstate NY only.

Nathan's Authentic Philly Beef Cheesesteak Sandwich

I bought this pizza out of curiosity, but it is not authentic at all. It was a whole wheat crust with just oozy cheese liquid inside (no tomato, no pepperoni, no other toppings)

April 2018 local items

I saw this chocolate pizza at walmart.  did not buy.

I made a tuna casserole in the instant pot. I found the recipe in a library book.  It turned out OK.  Still kinda fishy.  I have been eating it for 3 days in a row.

Every "April Tools Day", Ottawa Fastener Supply store in Bells Corners has a customer appreciation event with free food.  I got a smoked meat sandwich.
