I found this Swiss Chalet meat pie in Your Independent Grocer. Do not buy! Gross!

Cookies from Loblaws. The ones at the bottom are the best: lemon oatmeal with cranberries, recommended by Fong Pay.

October 2017 Ogdensburg Oddities

Hershey Skulls and Reese's Eyeballs. Both have the oval Easter egg shape instead of circular

Coolhaus Dirty Mint Chip ice cream. This is the first mint ice cream I've ever tried that actually tasted like real mint.

October 2017 local items

I got this Guy Fieri BBQ sauce at Sobeys because I ran out of the Heinz Carolina style BBQ sauce. OMG it was disgusting.

I got this White Rock cucumber watermelon seltzer at the Jewish loblaws. It is OK.

Ritz bacon flavor crisp & thins : bland. Bizarre Italian hard cookies: TOO HARD and old. They tasted like lady fingers.

A couple of weeks ago Tim bought one of these Harvey's pies and brought it to work. I think it was kind of salty and a bit dry. The filling was not as juicy as the blueberry pie.

We checked out Tomaso's after seeing a portable billboard advertising Detroit Deep Dish pizza. Here it is: it is just tall bread. I wish it was more like Chicago style deep dish pizza wit a lot of toppings.

Will report on these later after getting coworkers to try.

I tried to make my own mini deep dish pizza with a taco bowl. The concept is OK but the sauce was not good.

I got this Kawartha ice cream at Food basics. It was not chocolatey enough.

Pepsi with lemon tastes bad, like diet.

September 2017 Ogdensburg Oddities

New restaurant Hot Tamale where A&W and Long John Silver used to be. I did not go in.

New cafe The Bagelry near the grocery store

Golden Crisp was right beside Sugar Smacks.. One and the same. I will eat the cherry pie during Twin Peaks tonight. PS The cashier in Walmart told me that people love the mini pies. It's their best selling item, and people are buying 20-30 pies at a time.

August 2017 local items

another watermelon failure. It tasted like apple juice.

Chocolove - ok but the loaf is small and the slices are thick. The chips taste like BBQ.

Palak paneer in the instant pot.

More new Oasis drinks. These ones taste like drinking diluted herbal tea.

Mocktail (grapefruit juice and ??)

So far so good

Lower layer: tuna, egg and olive tapenade sandwiches (OK) and a pointless shotglass of lukewarm green pea/dill soup.

Second tier: two savory (onion) scones with onion jam. WTF.

Top layer: slightly stale desserts and....

this is literally one of the worst things I have ever tried to eat. It is charcoal panna cotta. Tastes like sugar and is very gritty and inky black. After eating here, Joanne and I felt sick. I wasn't even sure if I could drive. It was that bad.

These eclairs from FoodBasics were kind of tasteless

In other food news, here is the Kanata location of Mandarin Buffet Chinese restaurant under construction in the food basics parking lot at Kanata Town Centre.

August 2017 Ogdensburg Oddities

Took a visit to Watertown, NY. Sonic drive thru cheeseburger and oreo flavoured custard concrete. The custard concrete is like a milk shake but way thicker. Burger was bland.
